The Equity Collective

Together, the Equity Collective and Boys & Girls Clubs of America are working to increase career exploration and job readiness skills in Club youth, with a special focus on introducing diverse students to careers in finance.

Educating, empowering and developing the next generation of diverse leaders

The Equity Collective, an influential group of 27 asset management firms, partnered with Boys & Girls Clubs of America in 2022 to create awareness, reach motivated youth where they are and demystify financial service career opportunities as it relates to diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI).

Support from The Equity Collective is powering a refresh and reintroduction of Boys & Girls Clubs of America’s job-readiness and career exploration tool, CareerLaunch, with additional resources, information and current DEI standards. In addition to their support of CareerLaunch, each firm will work with a local Club where employees can meet, mentor and work with youth, helping them prepare for a successful career, sharing their own personal workforce journeys and teaching skills like interviewing and networking.

“We are excited to impact the future of our industry in a meaningful way,” says Andy Saperstein, Co-President of Morgan Stanley and Head of Morgan Stanley Wealth Management. “The Equity Collective is committed to investing early in American youth communities, focusing our efforts on increasing the pool of interested children who want to consider a finance career.”

A study by Mercer1 concluded Black and Latino students’ interest in working in finance crystallizes in high school, versus college years for many white students. For that reason, The Equity Collective has established this collaboration to generate awareness and interest in the industry sooner in these young people.

Impact on Kids

Through partnering with Samsung, we expanded access to the DIY STEM program and developed the Climate Superstars Challenge. The DIY STEM program serves as the entry-point for all members' STEM learning experience at Clubs and provides youth exposure to STEM through five modules: Energy and Electricity, Engineering Design, Food Chemistry, Aeronautics and the Science of Sports: Football. Climate Superstars aims to encourage youth to raise awareness about climate change and motivate them to take actions that help protect the environment.

Samsung's partnership enables interactive, hands-on learning while providing students with new perspectives on STEM careers and access to the latest technology. In addition, our partnership with Samsung goes beyond our programs and includes cause marketing initiatives that help promote awareness and drive donations for the organization. Through exclusive access to unique experiences such as the Las Vegas Galaxy Studio pop-up with singer Kelly Rowland and music producer and artist DJ Marshmello and a Winter Wonderland video production featuring YouTube star Casey Neistat, Samsung helps expand their understanding of STEM and encourages them to be the next generation of creators and innovators.
