Youth thrive with support from a caring mentor who notices them – and their potential. Boys & Girls Club mentors help kids grow into confident, capable adults. Currently, one in three young people will grow up without a mentor. Young people who meet regularly with a mentor are 40% more likely to graduate on time and 55% more likely to enroll in college.
The National Youth Mentoring Initiative administered through the Department of Justice recognizes the positive impact mentors can have on a young person’s life and supports efforts by Boys & Girls Clubs to provide positive adult mentors to help kids and teens have a brighter future. Having steady, positive influences at key times in a child’s life can lead to increased confidence and self-esteem, improved academic performance and relationships, and can help a child realize their true potential.
