When basketball player Terry Porter arrived in Oregon in 1985 to join the Portland Trailblazers, the former Club kid wasted no time building a relationship with the local Boys & Girls Club. He co-founded the Blazers Exchange Club, allowing Portland and Phoenix Club members to visit each other’s cities when their teams faced off. He also launched SMART Moves, a program designed to prevent drug and alcohol abuse and early sexual involvement, at Boys & Girls Clubs of the Portland Metropolitan Area. Now an assistant coach for the Sacramento Kings, he has remained actively involved with Boys & Girls Clubs throughout his basketball career.
