It may have been called the Laredo Boys Club, but that didn’t stop Judith Zaffirini and her four sisters from going there every day to swim. It was the 1950s, and the Club had just opened its doors. As she grew from child to adult, she watched her Club grow, too but it’s wasn’t until Judith became a parent that she became a lifelong supporter. Her son gained valuable lessons at the same Club she formerly attended. Today, Judith continues to be a passionate supporter of Boys & Girls Clubs. A communications specialist and educator, Judith was the first Latina elected to the Texas Senate, a seat she has held since 1986. As the highest ranking-state senator, she actively raises funds for her Club and other youth organizations. She believes strongly in everything Clubs do for America’s young people.
